RAMI BACHOUR

BACKGROUND

Rami represents a wide variety of clients in complex, high-stakes commercial disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, corporate control, securities, intellectual property, professional liability, and regulatory matters. Prior to co-founding BACH MILI, Rami worked as a trial attorney at Hueston Hennigan LLP, where he achieved historic, record-setting results for Fortune 500 companies, middle-market businesses, and prominent individuals in high-stakes, complex matters, including bet-the-company cases.

During law school, Rami served as an extern for the Honorable Alex Kozinski on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as a law clerk for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and as a summer associate at the international law firm Sidley Austin. Rami has extensive experience in all stages of litigation and investigations, including trial, dispositive motion practice, and depositions. From the moment the first document is filed, every option is considered and every decision is made with the ultimate goal in mind: winning at trial.

Outside the practice of law, Rami sits on the Board of Advisors for Equality California, a civil rights organization dedicated to championing equal rights and social justice for all individuals and communities across the state. Through strategic advocacy efforts, policy initiatives, and community engagement, the organization works to ensure that every Californian has the opportunity to thrive and live free from discrimination. With a focus on promoting fairness, inclusivity, and acceptance, Equality California has been instrumental in driving legislative changes, fostering supportive environments, and advocating for the rights of marginalized populations, making profound strides towards a more equitable society.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement in favor of a industry-leading online retailer against claims for patent infringement brought by serial patent litigant MasterObjects, Inc. Link.

  • Represented prominent technology CEO in a defamation lawsuit in one of the first examples of ‘Twibel’ (Twitter Libel) litigation in the country. Link.

  • Represented major Hollywood studio in connection with a profit participation action filed by the creators of the iconic television series Columbo. Link.

  • Represented utility company and its parent organization in litigation stemming from natural disasters in Southern California. Link.

  • Advised an international e-commerce company with adhering to various newly-enacted data privacy and security statutes, including applicable notice and consent mechanisms, broader online compliance issues associated with behavioral advertising, and data collection and maintenance of minors.

  • Secured termination of an SEC Investigation, without an enforcement action, for a publicly traded U.S. company relating to whistleblower complaints alleging violations of the FCPA and anti-corruption laws.

  • Assisted clients in navigating government investigations and enforcement actions initiated by regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Conducted internal investigations, responded to subpoenas and civil investigative demands (CIDs), and negotiated favorable settlements to resolve allegations of fraud, securities violations, and regulatory non-compliance.

  • Provided pro bono representation to indigent clients and underserved communities in civil rights litigation, criminal defense matters, and appellate advocacy. Advocated for systemic reforms and social justice initiatives to address disparities in access to legal representation and promote equal protection under the law.
